> Hardfaced Cutters
Franklin Miller cutters are available
with a special hardfacing option. A heavy fused coating of chrome
boride is bonded to the base metal at over 2000 degrees F. This
coating has an abrasion resistance factor that is over 15 times
greater than that of steel for greatly extended cutter life in
abrasive service.
The coating consists of extremely
hard particles of chrome boride in a nickle based matrix. The
fused material has a hardness in excess of Rc65 yet does not cause
the embrittlement experienced by hardened steels.
The nickle base makes this coating
highly corrosion resistance as well.
Other coatings available from Franklin
Miller include stellite or tungsten carbide hardfacings as well
as teflon coatings for corrosion.
