CASE STUDY: Crusher Takes Its Lumps, Minimizes Elbow Grease

Problem: CCP, Inc., a custom manufacturer of over 1000 private label formulations for the cosmetics industry, had a costly production bottleneck. In the production process, the material is milled to 20 to 200 mesh and re-blended. Incoming material, received in bulk bags or drums, needed to be conditioned to remove agglomerated cakes or lumps. The material could be hygroscopic, have a low melting point, or be exposed to high temperatures during transportation. These agglomerates had been screened or hand sifting in a labor intensive procedure which also resulted in a costly waste of material. CCP decided they needed a better solution.
