FMI Submersible explosion-proof (C.I.A) 3 phase, AC motors are true submersible motors built by Reliance specifically for Franklin Miller grinders and comminutors. These motors have unique design and construction features that make them suitable for continuous in air operation under full load operating conditions as well as full submerged duty to 200 feet (61m) of water and sewage.

These motors are designed to provide efficient operation with high mechanical integrity under adverse operating conditions for maximum life and minimum life cycle costs. Their design requires no internal or external liquid cooling system. The C.I.A Submersible motors are built for Franklin Miller submersible TASKMASTER, DIMMINUTOR and SUPER SHREDDER grinders in wet well applications, as defined by the National Electric Code as Class 1; Division 1, hazardous locations section 501-8 (a) requiring explosion proof construction. They are also designed to conform to the latest applicable requirements of NEMA, IEEE, ANSI and NEC standards.
